Why Balance Point Equine Bodywork?

I take a personalized approach that combines science, skill, and intuition to understand and meet each horse’s individual needs. I listen carefully to the horse’s body, allowing their responses to guide the session and ensure the best possible outcome. As a graduate of the School of Applied Therapy in Wyoming, I completed an intensive 500 hour program focused on equine massage therapy, anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, pathology, and energy work.

Horses work their hearts out for us without asking for anything in return. My way of giving back is to do my best to offer them relief from any pain or tension, be it physical, emotional, or energetic. By identifying and addressing areas of tension early, I aim to prevent small areas of discomfort and imbalance from escalating into larger problems down the road. This facilitates your horse’s overall wellbeing, allowing him to perform his best for you, happily. Each session is an opportunity to honor them by providing the care and attention they truly deserve.

Some of what we offer

  • From the gentle touch of a Swedish-style massage to the focused intensity of deep tissue techniques, your horse’s body will guide me to what it needs most. With a variety of modalities at my disposal, each session is intuitively tailored to provide the best possible care for your horse.

  • Myofascial Release Therapy differs from traditional massage by focusing on the fascia - the connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs - rather than just the muscles themselves. This approach is ideal for addressing deeper restrictions and imbalances in a way that compliments standard massage techniques.

  • Our toolkit features a Class 3 cold laser, photonic torch, and red light therapy pads. The cold laser promotes healing and reduces inflammation, the photonic torch targets acupoints for enhanced energy flow, and red light pads relieve tension and improve circulation.

  • Acupressure is a hands-on technique rooted in traditional Chinese Medicine, designed to restore the body’s natural energy flow. By applying gentle pressure to specific acupoints, it helps release blocked energy, or ‘Qi,’ promoting balance, healing, and relaxation. Its a natural way to relieve tension and allow the body to heal itself.

Why is regular massage and bodywork important?

Equine massage and bodywork provide essential benefits for every horse, addressing imbalances that are often subtle and easily overlooked. Even the healthiest and most well-cared-for horses develop compensation patterns as they adapt to the physical demands of training, work, or simply their natural asymmetries. These patterns can lead to chronic tension, reduced range of motion, and uneven wear on joints if left unaddressed. Regular bodywork not only helps release tight muscles and improve circulation but also identifies and alleviates these compensatory issues, restoring proper movement and balance. By focusing on prevention and maintenance, massage and bodywork allow minor imbalances to be corrected before they evolve into more significant problems, supporting long-term soundness and well-being. Whether a horse is a high-performance athlete, a working partner, or a cherished companion, regular bodywork enhances comfort, optimizes performance, and contributes to a healthier, more harmonious body.
